Tommaso Foti is Minister for European Affairs, the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan) and Cohesion Policies.
Born in Piacenza on 28 April 1960, he has gained extensive experience in the private sector and in institutions. From 1982 to 1996, he was a manager at a major agri-food company before turning to parliamentary politics.
His political career began at a very young age. In 1980, at the age of just 20, he was elected municipal councillor of Piacenza, a position he held for over twenty years, until 2005, with six consecutive terms.
In 1998, he was appointed Deputy Mayor with responsibility for the budget, finance and taxation.
A member of the Chamber of Deputies since 1996, he was elected for six consecutive terms (XIII, XIV, XV, XVI, XVIII and XIX), representing the Emilia-Romagna constituency.
From 9 November 2022 to 30 November 2024, he led the Fratelli d'Italia parliamentary group in the Chamber of Deputies.
On 2 December 2024, he was sworn in as Minister by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella.
