Dr. Chris Clemens is the Jaroslav Folda Professor of Astrophysics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has served as Chair of the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Senior Associate Dean for Research and Innovation, and Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost. He founded and directed the UNC Institute for Convergent Science, and is a serial entrepreneur, founding two companies, MegaWatt Solar, Inc., which developed solar concentrating systems for utility scale power, and Syzygy Optics, Inc. is developing lightweight, low power consumption hyperspectral imagers for use in agriculture and automated waste stream sorting for recycling.
