Gualberto Gussoni

President, RIDE2Med Foundation

A doctor specializing in pharmacology, Gualberto has worked in hospitals (Internal Medicine in Varese and Infectious Diseases in Busto Arsizio) and as a general practitioner. He then gained around 15 years of experience as a clinical researcher in Italian and multinational pharmaceutical companies. From 2007 to 2023, he was Director/Scientific Coordinator of the FADOI Internal Medicine Society, for which he coordinated Clinical Research (with over 50 studies completed) and Training activities. Since July 2023, he has been President of the non-profit foundation RIDE2Med, whose mission is to promote innovation in the life sciences through research projects and training and information initiatives, particularly in the field of digital medicine.

A former adjunct professor at the University of Pavia, he has taught in specialist and postgraduate training programs at various Italian universities (Florence, Pisa, Rome-Sapienza, Rome-LUISS, Rome-Unimarconi, Naples, Catania, Padua, Bologna, Siena, LIUC-Castellanza, and Verona), covering topics related to clinical research methodology, pharmacological research, and digital technologies applied to medicine. In the 2022-2023 academic year, he was the director of a second-level online master's degree in clinical research, promoted by UnitelmaSapienza University.

Author of approximately 100 articles published in international and national journals (H-Index ≅ 20), he has received international recognition for original clinical research in the fields of cardiovascular, endocrinological, and infectious diseases. He has promoted and conducted research that has contributed to changing international guidelines for cardiovascular diseases (venous thromboembolic complications in cancer patients; acute ischemia of the lower limbs). His publications include volumes of national and international importance on digital therapies, decentralized clinical trials, non-profit research, and public-private cooperation in research. An official reviewer and member of the editorial board of leading specialist journals (Medicina Interna; Emostasi e Trombosi; Farmacologia), he has been a speaker or chairman at over 150 Italian and international conferences.

Since June 2019, he has been a member of the Healthcare Professional Working Party of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), first representing the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM) and currently as an Individual Expert. Since 2023, he has been one of the experts supporting the Parliamentary Intergroup on Digital Health and Digital Therapies.
