Undersecretary to the Prime Minister’s Office

Alessandro Morelli is Undersecretary of State to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, following his appointment by decree of the President of the Republic on October 31, 2022. He was sworn in on November 2. By decree of the President of the Council of Ministers on November 25, 2022, Alessandro Morelli was appointed Secretary of the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development.

Born in Vizzolo Predabissi in 1977, Alessandro Morelli became a professional journalist in 2004.

Passionate about politics from a very young age, he began his political career at the age of 20, when he was elected councilor of Milan's Municipality 5 in the 1997 local elections, and was re-elected in 2001 and 2006.

From June 2010 to May 2011, he was councilor for Tourism, Territorial Marketing, and Identity in the Milan City Council.

In the 2011 local elections, he was elected to the Milan City Council and subsequently re-elected in the 2016 local elections, remaining in office until 2021.

An expert in mass media and new media, in 2013 he was appointed director of the national radio news station RPL, a role he held until 2018.

In the 2018 general election, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies. On June 21 of the same year, he took office as Chairman of the 9th Permanent Transport Commission of the Chamber of Deputies.
On March 1, 2021, Prime Minister Mario Draghi appointed him Deputy Minister of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility.

In the early general election on September 25, 2022, Alessandro Morelli was elected to the Senate of the Republic.
